Craig Sundecks and Porches

Step One

The first step is to define the parameters of your outdoor project. What function will your space serve? Begin considering specific needs such as more shade, sun, special views, insect control, privacy issues, integration with existing or future landscaping, and access to the yard. Think about which rooms to the house from which you would like to have access.  Don't forget, it's an easy process to remove a window and add a new door.  It may improve flows to and from the new outdoor space.  Your outdoor space should have similar functions to that of your breakfast room and family room, only in an exterior application.  How do you want your project to look? Consider architectural styles that compliment those of your existing home.

Step Two

Now that you have your ideas in place, it's time to meet with Jim. Jim will come to your home to take measurements, observe, and discuss general space parameters. Once the outdoor evaluation is complete, your kitchen table becomes the design studio complete with material samples to be considered as options given your specific requirements and needs.
Our goal is to make our porches feel like another room of the house, so we only offer top-quality and authentic products such as Western Red Cedar, Douglas Fir, and Brazilian tongue-and-groove hardwoods. The use of these materials make the warmth and comfort of our rooms undeniable. Jim will hand draw a floor plan that accounts for dimensions, shapes, flow, and architectural styles.
Once the project design and bid phases are complete, a contract is drawn up.  Important issues like specifications, payment terms, start and finish dates, licensing and permits, and warranties are discussed.  Need to submit your plans to your Home Owner Association? We will be happy to put together a design package to make your application process with the H.O.A. easy.

Step Three

Watch your project become a reality. During the building process, the crew will pay close attention to details and workmanship. Each of our projects are managed by a project manager and Jim. Our final step of each project is obtaining final building and electric inspections and any applicable finishes to give it our signature custom interior feel. We will guide you through every step to ensure your home improvement project is a pleasant experience.
